My Zen

This is why I write….

After 2 years with this blog, I joined a blogging course. Blogging 101 to be exact. I am not sure yet what I will learn from it, but I am hoping it will teach me a few things and give me the inspiration and tools I need to dedicate more time to this webpage.

So, this course gives us a daily task. It may be a post, or it may be more of a logistical task for navigation purposes. The very first task is to explain why.

Ah, the age old question. Why?

Often times, this is hard to explain. We feel like we should. Maybe it is expected. Maybe we know why. I have to agree though, without knowing the why of any commitment, how can one stay committed?

If you look at my About Me page, you will notice that I actually started this blog as  journal. A way to vent and organize my emotions. Or at least get them down on paper to find some sort of peace with them. The months passed and I started adding to my posts by incorporating pieces of advice and/or research that I enjoy and wanted to share with whoever would read it.

So now I am here. At what I think is a cross-roads. A time for me to decide exactly where this is going. I am passionate about so many things, but I know I can’t do all of them. There is not enough time in the day to express all of my thoughts on paper. I have decided that this will be the year to decide.

I am hoping that I can adapt this blog into a platform for wellness education. Mental, physical and emotional wellness. As an aspiring nurse practitioner, I want to reach people and inspire them to live well; to develop healthy habits. I want to be here to answer questions and motivate readers to prevent chronic disease; to take steps now. Right this minute to make better choices.

My goal this year is to find more focus for my blog and write consistently so that readers will know what to expect from me. I want them to have something to look forward to. I want to follow-up on previous posts, or at least when I say I am going to. I want to hold myself accountable. I have already begun by re-organizing the structure of my blog. I started a series entitled, “12 books in 12 months”, and another for Wedding Planning 2016. My hope is to continue these series throughout the year and throw other ones in here and there.

This Blogging 101 course is a springboard to these goals. Readers can expect to see some changes and more consistencies from me this year. I am very excited to see how my goals progress.
